"Dr. Beato coaches with responsiveness, clarity, and a profound care for all students. He listens carefully to the needs of those he is coaching, and creates focused agendas to address those needs. Time spent with Dr. Beato caused me to be a more reflective and effective school leader. " - Joseph Kautzer, Bowie HS, Principal (Coached 2020-2021)

"Dr. Beato goes above and beyond the call of coaching and mentoring by challenging our professional thought processes, biases, and potential. He empowers us to lead purposefully, prioritizing student voice, equity, and community at all cost. Dr. Beato's partnership in my coaching trajectory has helped me become a leader of change, and has personally grown my leadership capability, credibility, and diverse results. I truly can say that I am a better and stronger leader than Yesterday...Forever grateful for your leadership Dr. Beato!" - Samanta Lopez, Great Oaks Charter School, Principal (Coached 2020-2021)

"Dr. Beato was not only supportive in helping me clarify my problem of practice and potential alternative approaches to addressing it but he was willing to immerse himself in our school by actively participating in observations and teacher interviews. I think this added value to his conclusions for not only me as a building leader but stakeholders as well." - Bob McCarthy, Central Falls HS, Principal (Coached Oct. - Dec. 2020)
"Dr. Beato's hard work and dedication to English Language Learners not only motivated me and our students to excel, but it illustrated that systemic racism and oppression can be addressed through education and advocacy. As my principal and direct supervisor, his candor and strength provided a safe space for my critical thinking skills to flourish and provided me with a professional sense of autonomy that is unheard of in the social work or education profession. Ultimately, he inspired me to further my education and become part of the 1% Latino(a) population with doctorates." - Dr. Lesly Lemus, PGCPS, Social Worker (Former IHSLP Social Worker: 2014-2021)

“I can honestly say that I am the school leader I am today because of Dr. Beato’s guidance, supervision, support, and mentorship. Working alongside him as his assistant principal, I learned firsthand what it means to be a culturally responsive, social justice centered school leader. I watched him grab a mop and bucket when a custodian called out sick, and I watched him don a hairnet and serve food when the school kitchen was short staffed. His leadership has helped me find my voice and my place as a compassionate school leader. He has challenged me to think critically about my impact as an educator, and he has pushed me to seek out growth and learning opportunities that align with my career goals. Working alongside him served as an osmosis of sorts. Today, like Dr. Beato, I lead by always striving to put students front and center of my decision-making processes; I never forget my roots and my journey as an educator, and I fully understand what it means to align actions to values.” - Daniel Sass, School in the Square, AP (Former IHSLP Assistant Principal: 2014-2021)
"One of the services provided by SLE revolves around school-site visits which is an integral role of the work we do at Springpoint. As part of the team that visits schools, Dr. Beato engages in classroom visits, speaks with a variety of stakeholders and, along with other team members, uses the data from the visit to write a comprehensive report for the schools visited to improve the learning experiences for all students. Recently, Carlos started serving in a Visit Lead capacity through which he oversees visit processes and ensures a smooth transition between activities. [...] Carlos also served in the capacity of coach for Springpoint, providing additional support as requested by school leaders in our network." (Springpoint, 2020-Present)
"SLE most recently supported our leaders with a thoughtful set of talks detailing Dr. Beato’s lived experiences, spanning his childhood and successes as a school leader in the New York City Department of Education, and Prince George’s County in Maryland. Our organization continues to engage Dr. Beato formally through our Equity Practitioner Program. We don’t believe in light workshops, shallow experiences, or box-checking methods for discussing race, culture, language, class and/or ability. Instead, we endeavor to create an equity infrastructure by building momentum around the need for structural change, building the internal capacity or organizations to sustain change, and building a statewide coalition of thoughtful decision-makers. We asked Dr. Beato to join us in this endeavor. Dr. Beato has consistently shown up as an honest and dynamic thought partner, offering insights and strategies that push our decision makers toward courage and community." "One of the services provided by SLE revolves around the creation of professional development experiences. We started our partnership with Dr. Beato in May of 2022 and it is an ongoing partnership. Dr. Beato has helped to develop materials for two course modules for a Superintendent program as well as training materials for an Assistant Principal Academy. The overarching goal of this work was to improve the capacity and build the skills of these leaders to lead their schools and districts in an effective manner. Dr. Beato helped to gather resources and in the creation of materials needed to successfully execute tasks within specified modules. Support included meetings with Shetley Enterprises LLC to discuss the design of the work as well as follow-up meetings to discuss any changes needed to the materials created on behalf of Shetley Enterprises LLC. Since then, Dr. Beato has engaged in other projects for some of our other programming for the 2022-2023 school year." (Shetley Enterprises, 2022-2023)
